Be a part of helping children hear!

Bringing sound to the ear is also bringing information to the brain. Access to speech and sounds in the environment stimulates brain development and cognition. Even mild and unilateral hearing loss will often cause delays in the development of verbal language, listening, and attending skills, and ultimately in the child’s learning.

The Children’s Hearing Help Fund Hearing Aid Loan Bank has a variety of hearing aids to fit children with hearing loss from mild to profound degree, including children who are being considered as cochlear implant candidates. Hearing aids may have been purchased new, specifically for the Hearing Aid Loan Bank, or may be well-functioning donated hearing aids that are appropriate for use by young children. All hearing aids go through rigorous electroacoustic testing and visual inspection each time they are returned to the Hearing Aid Loan Bank.

Amplification is expensive and this wonderful technology should not go to waste! If you or a family member has one or more hearing aids that are not in use please consider donating them to the Children’s Hearing Help Fund Hearing Aid Loan Bank. Hearing aids that are appropriate for use by children will be repaired or reconditioned as needed and placed in the Hearing Aid Loan Bank inventory. If donated hearing aids are not repairable or not appropriate for use by children, they may be salvaged in exchange for valuable repair services.
